We have been working on a Talk feature for awhile now. Really, we've been sitting and thinking and debating about a Talk feature for a long time. The actual building of it was made much easier thanks to the excellent Pinax Project, which provided the inner guts of Talk.
This is a pretty big move for us: The third tab. We are proud that CRASHBOMB is a unique take on the social gaming website. We do not want to manage clans and tournaments and massive pseudo-professional interactions. We want a lean, streamlined way to get the in-game contact info for our friends. But we cannot deny that contact info is of little value if you can't actually meet up in-game.
So to help alleviate this problem, we've introduced Talk. Talk is a way for us to hear the voices of CRASHBOMB, and a way for people to meet up. We hope that Talk grows into a lean, streamlined way of keeping in touch with your friends. And although we do not have any current plans to adopt full-fledged network, clan or group creation, we are hoping to expand the features of Talk to be even more useful for helping you play with your pals online and in-person. (That's part of why we went with the Pinax solution — the Twitter integration is key!)
Please let us know on our Get Satisfaction page what you think about the Talk feature. We look forward to bringing you some great new stuff in 2009, but even more to playing some great games with you.
Happy New Year, everyone!
